What to do first

Four steps, in order

  1. Step 1

Ask the school counselor which of these your district takes part in. Districts decide how to deliver and document career advising.
  2. Step 2

Ask what a program costs and what credit it earns before you commit.
  3. Step 3

Take the free career quiz first: it gives a student something concrete to bring to the counselor.
  4. Step 4

Talk to someone who does the work. A conversation with one real worker teaches more than a brochure.

Questions

Straight answers

Do Ohio schools help students plan a career?
Ohio law requires each district to have a career advising policy that includes career advising for grades 6 through 12. Many districts use student success plans, so ask your school what yours looks like.
Is college credit in high school free?
It depends on the program and the district. Ask the counselor what a specific program costs a family before you enroll.
Does Launch League replace any of this?
No. It sits beside it. Coaching is for a teenager who has all of these options and still has no idea which fits.

Not confirmed, so not listed: Chippewa Local's own career programs (the district site was unreachable); costs and credit details for each program; Wadsworth's formal membership in the Medina County Career Center.
